SPECTRUM PEST CONTROL
Helping you
protect
your health
and
your property.
A professional pest control service helping residential and business owners, estates and local authorities to control unwanted visitors.
Services we provide:

Rats
Rats pose serious risks to both health and property, as they carry many pathogens that are harmful to humans and cause significant structural damage. After conducting an Initial Survey, we implement a tailored Rat control solution suited to your specific situation, along with recommending proofing measures to help prevent future infestations.
Mice
Mice also present risks to human health and can cause damage to property, though their biology and behaviour differ from that of rats. As with all cases, we begin with an Initial Survey of your property, following which we implement the control (and proofing options) which are appropriate for your situation.
Squirrels
The damage that Squirrels cause to property (particularly in attics) and trees can be extensive and costly! We implement the best methods of control and management for Squirrels.
Moles
Moles are considered pests for several reasons, including the damage they cause to lawns and fields, and the hazards created by their tunnelling, which can lead to foot/hoof/leg injuries if the ground collapses underfoot. Molehills can also contribute to the spread of the bacterial infection Listeriosis in cattle, which can be fatal. Our expert, humane trapping methods provide an effective solution for controlling moles.
Rabbits
Surely cuddly Rabbits aren’t pests?! Actually, they are. The damage caused by Rabbits (especially to crops and gardens) costs millions of pounds annually. Did you know that there is even an Act of Parliament that specifically deals with Rabbits as pests? It’s The Pest Act 1954. As with all pests, we control and manage Rabbits humanely and effectively.
Foxes
Foxes predate on gamebirds, ground-nesting birds, small mammals and young livestock. Fox faeces can be particularly hazardous as it can cause blindness, especially in children. We use approved, humane methods to control Foxes.
Flies
Some Fly species bite. Many species of Flies are responsible for food poisoning and other diseases. Contact us for species identification and infestation control.
Moths
It might surprise you to know that these insects, of which there are multiple species, do not spread disease and do not bite! However, certain Moth species can cause significant damage to property, including clothes, carpets, and stored food. If you have a moth infestation, contact us for expert species identification and effective control.
Ants
There are several species of Ants that are classed as pests in the UK. As with all pests, we will identify the species and treat them accordingly.
Bees
Please note that Bees, and in particular Honey Bees, are in serious decline in the UK, therefore at Spectrum Pest Control we will only treat Bees as pests if (a) they are causing a serious problem that cannot be tolerated and (b) all other options to save them have been considered/attempted first. We will save and re-house Bees when possible.
Beetles
There are many species of beetles in the UK that can damage foodstuffs, wood, stored grain, furniture, clothing, and carpets. We will identify the specific type of beetle and provide the effective treatment for the infestation.
Bed bugs
Bed bugs feed exclusively on blood and are therefore prevalent in bedrooms and other areas of homes, hotels, blocks of flats etc. At Spectrum Pest Control, we use advanced technology and scientifically developed detection methods to identify and locate bed bugs, followed by effective Integrated Pest Management techniques to eliminate infestations.
Cockroaches
The two most common cockroach species in the UK, the German cockroach and the Oriental cockroach, pose a direct health risk to humans. They carry the organismsich cause food poisoning in humans and many other bacteria, such as salmonella, staphylococcus and organisms which cause food poisoning in humans and many other bacteria, such as salmonella, staphylococcus and streptococcus. Cockroaches move from sewers and drains into buildings. This means that when they’re in your building, foraging for food and water, they will
contaminate anything they come into contact with; food, utensils, and preparation surfaces. Contact us for effective and professional control.
Fleas
Flea bites can cause intense irritation and itching to both humans and pets. On humans, infection can be caused by prolonged itching when left untreated.
Flea bites have been known to cause skin complaints and can also exacerbate respiratory illnesses and cause complications. We control infestations of every level.
Wasps and Hornets
No introduction is needed for these stinging insects! We professionally identify and treat Wasp and Hornet nests, so you don’t have to risk handling them yourself. At the present time we can also identify and report Asian Hornets for control (if positively identified) by the APHA National Bee Unit (NBU).
Birds
All wild birds, their eggs and nests are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
However, specific exemptions permit certain species to be controlled by particular methods for specific reasons.
The law only allows competent people such as professional pest controllers to deal with certain species.
Contact Spectrum Pest Control to deal with all bird pest species, especially (but not limited to):
House Martins
Housemartins’ love of the eaves of houses and buildings for nesting can cause health issues due to their droppings and introduction of bird mites/bird related insects into the property. We provide systems to prevent these issues.
Starlings
Starlings commonly nest or roost in attics and other accessible places in homes and buildings. We can deal with these issues using approved methods.
Jackdaws
Frequent nesters in chimneys and beneath solar panels, Jackdaws carry pathogens and can damage property. We carry out proofing of chimneys and solar panels to prevent these issues.
Pigeons
Arguably one of the birds that cause the most problems in the UK. There are more than 110 pathogens reportedly carried by pigeons. Also, Pigeon droppings when dry can become airborne in small particles which can lead to respiratory complaints. All bird droppings (not just Pigeons’) can be slippery and can cause a serious risk on pavements and walkways, particularly under roosting birds. Following an Initial Survey, we can provide solutions to these issues if you are having problems with Pigeons.
Corvids (Rooks, Crows, Jackdaws, Magpies)
These damage these birds can cause to crops and livestock (particularly young lambs), as well as to other birds, is widespread. Under the current Bird Control Licences issued by Natural England, we can provide effective control of these bird species.
Gulls
As well as many of the health hazards mentioned above for other birds, Gulls can be very aggressive when nesting and particularly when they have eggs or young. These large birds will swoop to attack and can cause physical injuries. We use approved deterrent and control measures appropriate to the size and behaviour of Gulls to protect people and buildings.
